Our Director/Librarian

Deborah Lundbech

Welcome and thanks for stopping by!

I was born in England and came to this country when I was a child. I lived in Connecticut for ten years and then spent time traveling until landing in Vermont. I graduated from the University of Vermont and worked as an elementary school teacher in several public schools and then at a local independent school for many years.

In August of 2004 I began working at the New Haven Community Library and also began my formal training (as well as on the job!) to become certified in the State of Vermont as a librarian. I completed my final class in the fall of 2009.

As a lifelong, avid reader, it’s wonderful to be able to be involved in work where I can read, think about and discuss books to my heart’s content. I love meeting and getting to know the many different people that come through the door and I love that the library gives me the opportunity to know people of all ages – kids, teens, adults and elderly adults. It’s immensely gratifying when I can connect people with the exact book, piece of information or material that they want. I really treasure being in a job where, regardless of income, situation or any other consideration, I am here to welcome each and every person and to make sure that they feel comfortable in accessing whatever it is they want and need from their library.

Away from the library, I live in Bristol and I am married and the mother of four boys. I love to read (of course) and also enjoy genealogy, uploading family and vintage photographs to Flickr, gardening (in a limited sort of way) and walking (taking my time) – when the weather is temperate.
